Ogni incontro del corso di “Inglese per viaggiare” si apre con una canzone, scelta spesso in relazione al tema della lezione, ma talvolta indipendente dal contesto. Questa pratica non è casuale: la musica contribuisce a creare un’atmosfera ideale per l’apprendimento, stimolando tutti i sensi e favorendo la cosiddetta Total Physical Response (TPR).

La TPR si basa sull’idea che apprendiamo e memorizziamo meglio ciò che ci coinvolge a livello multisensoriale e fisico. Durante uno dei nostri workshop, abbiamo riflettuto sull’idea di riadattare la canzone del giorno per renderla più significativa e in linea con le esigenze quotidiane dei partecipanti.

L’obiettivo era quello di superare il classico “Come si dice questo o quello in inglese”; e creare un testo che potesse stimolare un uso più diretto e spontaneo della lingua. Così abbiamo scritto un nuovo testo, poi affidato all’esperienza di Charles Goodger, musicista e insegnante di Inglese, che lo ha trasformato in una versione musicale completa.

Each session of the “English for Travel” course opens with a song, often chosen to relate to the lesson’s theme, though sometimes unrelated to the context. This practice is not accidental: music helps create an ideal learning atmosphere, stimulating all senses and supporting what is known as Total Physical Response (TPR).

TPR is based on the idea that we learn and remember better when we are engaged at a multisensory and physical level. During one of our workshops, we reflected on the idea of adapting the song of the day to make it more meaningful and aligned with the participants’ daily needs.

The goal was to move beyond the classic “How do you say this or that in English” and create a text that could encourage more direct and spontaneous use of the language. Thus, we wrote a new text, which was then entrusted to the expertise of Charles Goodger, a musician and English teacher, who transformed it into a complete musical version.
