World Teachers Day

Every year on 5 October, we celebrate teachers around the world and recognize the invaluable role they play in shaping lives, inspiring minds, and transforming education.

World Teachers Day

marks the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which established important standards for teachers’ rights and responsibilities, preparation, recruitment, employment, and teaching and learning conditions.

The 1997 Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel further strengthened these principles by addressing educators in higher education.

Celebrated since 1994, this day is not only an opportunity to thank and celebrate teachers, but also a moment to reflect on the support, recognition, and resources they need to thrive and fulfil their vocation.

Today, let us celebrate teachers for their dedication, resilience, and passion—and continue working towards a future where every educator is empowered to make a lasting difference. ✨

Happy World Teachers’ Day to all the teachers who inspire, empower, and transform our world!
